Within the Swiss population there is a considerable need for information about the problem of antibiotic resistance. This is one result of a public opinion poll that gfs.bern conducted for the National Research Programme "Antibiotic Resistance" (NRP 49). In order to meet the existing needs for information, researchers of the NRP 49 formed an "Communication Platform" to make their expertise available for the public. The gfs.bern study and the members of the recently established "Communication Platform" were presented to the media on June 30. The present experts of the NRP 49 provided a comprehensive introduction to the subject of antibiotic resistance in Switzerland.
